Orgxiii.org’s FREE COAT CREATIVITY CONTEST BEGINS RIGHT NOW!
Yay!
Today is the first day in our two-month-long Creativity Contest! We’re looking for artistic and creative submissions of ALL TYPES that follow the theme of our contest (which we will be announcing below.) There will be multiple prizes in the form of orgXIIIorg merchandise and one GRAND PRIZE in the form of a CUSTOM-MADE ORGANIZATION COAT. Want a shot at this coat but aren’t sure you’re creative? Just check below, because you might have a better chance than you think!
Types of Submissions Allowed
This is a Creativity Contest! In other words, be creative. You can submit entries as simple as a hand-drawn picture, or as complex as a motion picture. We’re looking for stuff that makes us laugh, or makes us think, or makes us go ‘Wow, I never could have come up with this!’
Since you can submit multiple entries in different media (see the rules below for more info), I wanted to outline some of the media types available to you. If you’ve got an idea for a type that isn’t even on this list? Congrats on being creative! Submit it!
Here we go:
-Artwork! Pencil art, marker art, computer-drawn art, pixel art, giant splashes of paint on a wall, body art, or any way that you use a tool to physically make a picture on some type of ‘canvas.’
-Writing! Fanfiction, Essays, Character analysis, Poetry! Give us any combination of letters stuck together into something coherent!
-Photography! Did you capture an awesome cosplayer in an awesome pose in an awesome setting? Or see a shadow that looks like a heartless on the wall? Send us your photos, too!
-Crafting! 3-D media such as sewing, hair-styling, plushies, jewelry, wood-carving, making snow-nobodies, or otherwise using your hands to come up with a physical object or diorama. (Since you can’t email physical objects, though, sending us photos of the finished work will be fine!)
-Movies! Stop-motion, animation, redubbing/remixing, filming popsicle sticks over the edge of your counter or your friends acting out a scene, anything that you can capture visually that tells a story would qualify for this category!
-Graphics Design! Web-page layouts, icon-sets, flash games, text-based games, logos! This is a creativity contest, after all, and design is definitely creative!
-Other! Please! Surprise us! IF YOU DARE.
Rules + Deadline
These may be amended if clarifications are requested or other issues arise.
-All entries MUST not exceed a T and/or PG-13 rating. Please no porn, explicit material, or extreme gore. All visuals and language must be safe for work.
-All entries MUST be mailed to special_requests [at] orgxiii.org with the subject ‘Creativity Contest.’ (Links to work uploaded elsewhere may be provided if it exceeds attachment sizes.)
-All entries MUST be received by the end of the day (midnight Central Time) on MAY 5th, 2012. Late entries will not be considered.
-All entries MUST be your work, or you must have written permission from the original creator to use it FOR THIS CONTEST. You are welcome to enter on behalf of another individual, though.
-All participants and/or models must give consent if they are included in your entry. (This means if you’re submitting a photo of a cosplayer, they have to be alright with it. Conversely, if you are a cosplayer submitting your cosplay as a craft item, the photographer also should be alright with this use of their photo.)
-Only one entry in each media type is allowed. However, you may submit multiple entries in different media - i.e. you cannot submit three pieces of 2-D Artwork (not even if you did them with different materials) but you could submit a piece of art, a story, and a photograph. You can even use the same theme for each piece if you want!
-Each entry MUST be explicitly connected to one of our themes. There are three themes to chose from, so make sure it fits at least ONE of them. It can fit more, if you’re able to connect them!
-Previous work is allowed, so long as (again) it fits one of the themes. We do have a preference for new work, but we know it can be difficult to duplicate an awesome picture or re-do a project that was sold, so this will be allowed.
-All work MUST be Kingdom Hearts related. It must feature at least one character present in the games/extended canon, or take place in the Kingdom Hearts Universe, or feature Kingdom Hearts themed imagery. (This does mean we allow crossovers, OCs, AUs, etc! However, don’t write a story about Cloud from FF7 in the FF7 world and enter it. It must be about KH somehow, either via setting or character. Thus, stories about FF7 Cloud in the KH universe would be alright, or vice versa!)
THE PRIZES
This is the exciting part~
At the end of the contest, we will post all entries here and on Facebook underneath their corresponding categories. At that point, we will open up voting for the ‘fan favorites’ in each category. These will each receive prizes, as will the overall top voted entries.
For those who are a little squeamish about being voted on, however, don’t worry. The orgXIIIorg staff is reserving several prizes for honorable mentions that will be chosen independently of the vote, and we will also be deciding the grand prize and runner(s) up.
Here is a list of some of the items! (Keep an eye out, because more may become available!)
-Pin sets - ($10 value) Given to top-voted entries in each media category. Pin sets will include ten 1” buttons chosen from our fandom-related categories. Winners may indicate a preference of characters/symbols/other fandoms that will make up these sets.
-Custom-drawn pin + Pin set - ($20 value) Given to honorable mentions within categories. These will be given to entrants that we feel had some part of their work particularly stand out to us. These winners will receive a custom-drawn bust of any character, a pin of that custom drawing, and a 10-pin set.
-$30 store credit - These $30 credits will go to the top few entries that receive the most votes, regardless of media category. This credit can be applied to any hat that we make, any zipper that we offer, any other merchandise from orgXIIIorg (such as chain sets) or any future commissions from Saeru.
-$50 store credit - Given to the runner(s) up, these $50 credits will go to outstanding entries chosen by the orgXIIIorg staff. This credit can be applied to any hat that we make, any zipper that we offer, any other merchandise from orgXIIIorg (such as chain sets) or any future commissions from Saeru.
Grand Prize
-Custom Organization coat - (Filled with a lot of value) Given to the entry that the orgXIIIorg staff feels exhibited the most effort, skill, dedication, and, of course, creativity. This custom coat will be made to the winners measurements regardless of size and with the winners preference of hood style, zipper type, and character details. This coat will be lined for comfort and will also include the beads/chains/pulls hardware. It will be awesome.
So what themes are we working with, here?
Ooh, another exciting section!
We received a lot of awesome theme submissions, making it really difficult to chose! In the end we decided to go with three themes, two selected from our theme entries and one wildcard chosen by us, so we could give a good spread of ideas for you to chose from!
So here they are!
The themes for our Creativity contest will be:
-Alternate Endings
-Steampunk or Retro
-Haunted
This means winning pin-sets will be delivered to Sparkylarx from Tumblr and Kyra Stokes from Facebook! Additionally, MK was chosen by random drawing, and will also be receiving a prize! We will be contacting our winners shortly to get addresses and pin-preferences.
Thanks so much for helping us out with the theme!
So, we’ll close by saying Good Luck!
We hope to be receiving a lot of awesome entries over the next two months and will be looking forward to giving out a free Organization XIII coat~ Stay tuned for more info, our March Coat Auction, and potential other prizes…
